Replace it less. Work More
The sharpshooter shovel has been a staple in the trades for over a century - and Metal Concepts builds the best version of it. Every Sharpshooter® is crafted in Phoenix, Arizona using all-American steel, with a narrow, pointed blade that penetrates compacted soil, clay, and rocky ground without bending or breaking. It's the tool irrigation installers reach for when pulling pipe, the one fence crews trust for post holes, and what utility workers use when machinery can't get close. Four models, one standard of quality. Browse the catalog below.
Four models, each built for a different situation. Here's how to pick:
- Standard Sharpshooter® (78", 13 lbs): The original. Best for trenching, post holes, and general precision digging. The go-to for most crew work.
- D-Handle Sharpshooter®: Same blade, shorter grip with a D-ring. Better leverage in tight spaces, easier to control when you're working in a narrow trench or close to other utilities.
- Shorty Sharpshooter®: Lighter, more compact. Designed for tight clearances, smaller crews, or work where a full-length handle is too much to manage. Less weight, still the same steel.
- Dig Bar Sharpshooter®: Has a 12" forged hex point bar attached. Use the bar to break hardpan first, then flip to the blade. Built for the jobs where the ground won't cooperate from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions
A sharpshooter shovel is a narrow, pointed-blade digging tool used for precision work - trenching for irrigation and utility lines, digging post holes, planting trees, and any job that requires a clean, controlled cut into the soil. Contractors and landscaping crews favor it over standard shovels for its accuracy in tight spaces.
Yes. Every Metal Concepts shovel is manufactured in Phoenix, Arizona using all-American steel. The company designs, engineers, and builds each tool in-house.
A sharpshooter has a long, narrow blade with a pointed tip - designed for digging into hard ground and creating precise, narrow trenches. A flat spade has a straight edge for edging and slicing. A round point shovel has a wider blade for moving loose material. The sharpshooter is the right tool when you need accuracy and penetration, not volume.
Metal Concepts offers four configurations: the standard long-handle (78", approx. 13 lbs), the D-Handle for leverage in tight spaces, the Shorty for compact low-clearance work, and the Dig Bar model with a 12" forged hex point bar for breaking hardpan.
